screwing through floating laminate

Does anyone have any experience or tips for whether screwing things through a floating laminate wood floor would restrict the floating aspect and cause problems? I'm going to minimize that, but there are a few items that need to be secured to the floor.

thanks,
David

Question

Are you talking about screwing into the laminate, or all the way through into the sub-floor?

All the way through. Since the floor isn't attached to anything but itself, it wouldn't help much to screw to the laminate. People must have to do this unless they find a way to just lay the laminate around everything.

What I did is limit the need for screwing through the laminte.

When I had to, I drilled a larger hole in the laminate only. Like 1/4", then drove an 1/8" screw (for example), in the center of that hole down into the subfloor. That should leave enough for expansion.

I've culled too much spam, you don't want to know what I thought when I saw the thread title...
Do you think there would be enough movement to justify slots, or just slightly oversized holes?

Desair,
I just put a floating floor in our '87 and all I did was drill the holes over-sized to allow contration and expansion of the flooring material. So far everything has been ok.
