retro tiles

I am having a hard time finding the right flooring for my 1978 Sovereign. I have already ripped up the well-used peach carpet, and would like to replace it will a floating floor, preferably a tile that I can install myself to keep costs down. I picked out a beautiful marmoleum tile in a peachy colour that matches the interrior, but was quoted almost $1200 CAD for just the tiles, not including install (me) or other materials that I would need to complete the project.(I am willing to pay quite a bit, but not that much...I didn't pay a huge price for the whole trailer) I am trying now to find other tiles in a variety of colours for a retro look, and I am afraid that marmoleum seems out of my reach. I have thought of VCT tiles, guessing that I would have to put down a subfloor because they can't be glued down......hmmmm....I will try anything.
My trailer is 31', and I live in Atlantic Canada, where temperatures vary drastically different times of the year, and I use the trailer lots and plan to tow lots.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I just wanted to tell you that I have found sheets of Marmoleum at floor stores in the remnent area. You then can cut the sheet goods into 12" by 12" goods. You may not find your exact color but it is 1/3 the price! and in some cases you can deal for even less. Vin...

Have you thought about carpet tiles? Try FLOR is Modular Flooring for the Home, Office, and Anywhere for some great ideas. You can find similar products at a more friendly price at some of the big box stores. These tiles are easy to install and if you purchase a few extra you can replace any heavily worn or dirty area in the future. Heck you might even find some peach color tiles.

carpet tiles

I have become a big fan of carpet tiles. We had vinyl in the our 2004, but our 1978 and 1986 have been carpet tiles. They are warm, comfortable, easy to clean, durable, seperately replaceable, easy to install and come in some great designs. You can also get the tiles at a number of websites selling remnants from bigger jobs. Tiles are typically used for commercial uses so it is very common for them to do a production run that has 100 to 500 square feet left over.

Armstrong also makes a linoleum product. Or you could get the marmoleum tiles only, not the click in place floating system, which is what I think you were given a price on. The lino tiles are cheaper and can be glued down easily. Their floating floor system is MDF backed and would add considerable weight to your trailer. You can also get the marmoleum as sheet goods to avoid seams, if you like. I think it runs around $20 per square yard. $1200 seems really high, even for the click system. Have you tried shopping for it online?

Here's a place with pretty decent prices on the Marmoleum line:

I think its great

The Armstrong industrial squares for sale at Home Depot are very reasonable, the colors are almost the same as Forbos' Marmoleum ,,,its worth a look. BY the way, our store says its a special order....but its quick.
