I've just laid a new floating floor in Airstream One and used Swiftlock Plus from Lowes.

It went down very nicely and I'm pleased to be able to sweep out after a day of golf pros tracking grass and what not into the coach.

The Plus product comes with an underlayment already built in.

I picked the "Hand Scraped Hickory" as the trim in the bus is all hickory.

The end result is very pleasing and as I write I'm sitting in the driver seat looking at it.... in of all places Hickory, NC.

the pergo looks great! nice and clean easy to maintain, enjoy.
we will probably to the same when we need new flooring.

So it just clicks together, right? What is the sq footage on a 31' trailer? How many boxes of Pergo did you need?

I installed my Pergo (a look-a-like brand from Lowes) so the grain runs ACROSS the width of the trailer.
I believe this gives a slightly wider apearance to the front room and hall way areas. The waste was calculated to only be 2 planks more this way rather than running them the length of the trailer.

I sure do like the ease of clean up and the appearance.

Nice! We have a 30' SO with carpeting that I would like to take out and replace with Pergo. I've been told it's not do able. Any suggestions?

We have just traded for 34' with Sofa SO with carpeting. The carpet is coming out and being replaced by Pergo now at the dealer.

The "Pergo" is installed on top of a foam pad as a floating floor the same as it is in a house.
I glued all my joints together using the Pergo glue. The foam pad is stapled down.
I will take a couple photos tomorrow and post them here. Thoought I had some but evidently don't.I have not installed the trim around the edges yet as I have been looking for something other than 1/4 round. Wanted some thing like a miniture baseboard, so far no luck finding what I want without having it custom milled, & thats not gonna happen. So will probably end up with the 1/4 round anyway.

After I replaced the rear 8 feet of sub floor and the bathroom floor, I painted the sub floor with Kilz oil based primer and then installed the pergo in all but bathroom (tile) and bedroom ( carpet).

I love the look of Pergo and other wood laminate floors but I too worry about water damage and seams along the subfloors. These seams have a tendency to buckle and move during towing. Has anybody had any trouble with subfloor seams?

Here are some photos of my floor I took today.
Like I said in my above post, I glued ALL the seams. My reason is I live in Western Washington and spend a lot of time on the Washington & Oregon coasts - so rain happens.
When I had PERGO brand installed in my house, the installers said they always glue the edges here in our beautiful NW because of the moisture and I have had it for just 10 years now and you can not see any problems. ANd it does get used.

Back to the Airstream. As you can see form the photos, I have not finished the project yet, but sure have used the AS anyway. Last October went to the Oreghon coast crabbing aand we got drowned but ate well. No probs with the floor I just kept a mop handy. We used my AS as the "DRY" room while waiting for the crabbies to get into the crab pots. Much warmer than an open boat.

Good lucvk with what ever you choose to install. This sure works nice & it is easy to clean.

I havre not had any problems with my subfloor. If yours is buckling or moving when you tow,then there has to be some loose sub-floor plywood that is an issue needs to be repaired soon.
As I stripped mine down to the sub floor and repaired ALL damages caused by the PO, I do not expect to have any problems. Where I had to replace the sub-floor plywood, I used Exterior/marine grade B/B plywood. Strong stuff. Pluged & sanded both sides.

AS for the water damage:
What about tracking wet feet & or other sources of moisture that get onto a carpet? And then it gets into the carpet pad. And then into the sub-floor.
With the pergo, you can SEE the water and just wipe it up.

We got tired of the beige carpet in the lounge area, it always looked dirty. We were always cleaning it. We just installed Tarkett wooden grained fiberglass backed vinyl. No gluing, it just is layed on top of the old flooring(with some composite to even out where the carpet was removed). Everone at the Vintage Trailer Jam thought it was a wood floor. We just sweep with a broom or Swifter. No worry about water. I'll send some photos when we get Wifi. We're up in the Adirondaks off the Schroon River.

The Tarkett fiberglass backed vinyl is terrific stuff. We put that in our bathroom and love it (see my blog). It's so easy to install and has just a little "cush" when you walk on it.

I hadn't though about putting the Tarkett wood grain vinyl in the rest of the trailer. Great idea! I'm going to put some serious thought into that.

Has anyone with a SO removed carpeting and replaced it with pergo, etc?
Did the SO still function properly?

We replaced the carpeting in our 2004 Classic SO with Armstrong laminate and it was fairly simple. No problems with the Slide since installation. Actually the laminate is not as thick as the carpet and pad that was removed. On our 2004 and later models there are a set of rollers the slide moves on and as long as these are not obstructed you should be OK.
Like most projects preparation is everything. We removed the sofa, side tables, toilet etc. to eliminate as many obstructions as possible. Using tips from other forum members I used an undercut saw to get the flooring under the cabinets. Also used the 2mil foam underlayment under the laminate. Biggest issue with the SO trailers is weight. We removed 70# of carpet, pad and vinyl and then added 90# of laminate plus a few pounds for the throw rugs.
