Original Vinyl Floor replace or keep ?

My husband wants to know if he should take up the old original vinyl tiles, or just lay the one piece type vinyl over that?

I told him I thought the original sqaures should go, what do you all think?

You are going to get as many different answers as to the many who respond! I personally would remove the old. First, it gives you the opportunity to inspect whats underneath and second, it just makes sense. Out with the old and in with the new.

It depends

If you really want a vintage look, you can't beet the tiles. We had a 61 Bambi at Dead Horse that had the tiles and even a patio mat that matched , it looked great. If you are going to replace it, I would then remove the tiles. You do not have to limit yourself to vinyl either. Pergo type floors and cork are two very popular options as well.

Speaking of asbestos. I discovered a big ol' hunk of it in the outside fridge access of my '72 Safari. It was apparently used to insulate the fridge from the interior bulkhead panel. I pulled it out and didn't replace it with anything and everything seems fine.
