Personally, I would buy Marmoleum and glue it down to the subfloor as a single sheet, rather than go with tile.

The instruction sheet states that 8mm is the spacing required, ew used the thickness of a tile which is around 1/4" I will tell you how that worked when the summer heat arrives here in AZ.

The linoleum tiles come in black, beige. They have grey and blue in a plastic tile, which we checked out. The blue is very close to AS Blue. we were thinking of purchasing a box to make a mat outside the front door while we are camping. it can be easily dissasembled and stowed.

Update on this flooring, unfortunately it did not withstand the hot summer heat in Arizona while the trailer is in storage. The linoleum tiles de-laminated from the plastic tiles. They expand at different rates and did not hold up. The floor lasted about 3-years. We have replaced the floor with a good old solution VCT Glued directly to the subfloor, it looks vintage and very similar to the original tiles. We are very pleased with the outcome. Time will tell how it holds up in the heat. So far so good! This was the hottest summer on record in AZ and it held up very well.

Install question

I've purchased VCT and have not installed yet. Did you align the seams with the seams in subfloor? Mines gutted and am doing the entire floor. This summer for us has been cooler than normal, but the inside of my trailer see 115 regularly in the summer.

Thanks,

Mike

We used a floor filler to fill in the gaps in the subfloor. Then we found the center point in the trailer and worked from there. I do not believe that we have any tile seams that aligned with the subfloor. We snapped a chalkline running the full length of the trailer and another intersecting one going across which gave us four corners to start the tiling process. It is the very same method you would use to tile a room in a house. It is a bit trickier to find the center of the trailer with all of the cabinetry in place but, we were able to do it.

Thanks for the update. I'm thinking about what kind of flooring to use in my Bambi II & am glad you got back to this thread! I'm not sure what VCT stands for.....? But your new floor looks nice too (so did the old one when you first put it in!) I guess I won't be throwing that in my cart at IKEA.

VCT stands for Vinyl Composite Tile, very inexpensive and available in many color options. It is readily available at Bome Depot or Lowes manufactured by Armstrong

Thanks for the info! Have you towed it? I've heard to try and line up with subfloor seams so that stress cracks don't appear at the joints in the plywood. Though the original flooring was not done that way.

Yes, we have towed several times without any issues to date.

The floor looks great! Our AS is dark inside. I like the look of the lighter floor.
