Glue or not to glue

I would like to replace the front carpet in my 2011 30' Classic with the same roll vinyl that she came with. Beau Flor was nice enough to send me samples of their current available patterns since the original has been discontinued. I will go aft until the natural break at the dinette and the counter. Then a trim piece to separate the new from the existing. My question is : was the original vinyl glued down? Should I plan on gluing the new vinyl to the sub floor?

Thanks,

OK, as a follow up to the lack of responses to my previous posting I decided to order the roll vinyl from Beau Flor that most closely matched the original (which I find very acceptable, more so than the vinyl that ws used by AS in the past). I recieved it yesterday and will start the project next week. What I will be doing is removing the carpet and the vinyl back to where I have the tape measure in the attachment. I will then replace it with the new Beau Flor. and use a molding to separate the new from the original. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid using adhesive. From what I can tell, the original is not glued down. I'll follow up on he results. Opinions??

My 2008 Classic floor is buckling due to temperature extremes. I am considering BeauFlor since they provide flooring to the RV industry.

I checked the Beauflor website. From what I can see it's glued down. I've seen videos of conventional trailer manufacturing and they glue the flooring down prior to cabinets being mounted.

Post photos of you completed project.

Thanks for sharing.

Kelvin

So Airstream is using Beauflor now with the newer trailers?

I will be following your progress with interest..but have no idea whether to glue or not. What about contacting Beau Flor for info?

Can you mention the style or collection and color of Beauflor. Looks like something I could use in my Classic when I get around to this job. Also, where did you order it from?

Thanks

Kelvin

Hey Guys,

AS far as gluing down: I will decide when I remove the existing Beau Flor to glue or not depending on the previous set up. My 2011 Classic came with a Beau Flor color that has been discontinued. The people @ Beau Flor were really great in that they sent me samples of all the existing patterns for me to chose from. The closest and the one that complements my existing is Pearwood 14 M. I ordered from the Syntec warehouse in Indiana. 1800 526 8428 Ext 8370 and gave my order to Diane. The vinyl comes in 8' widths which is really great because there is no waste. It took me quite a while to search down the manufacturer and the source. I hope that my info can help others.

Lounge floor finished

Finished the removal of the lounge carpet and original vinyl flooring from the lounge and replacement with full coverage of the entire lounge area with new Beau Flor. The original was not glued down. This made removal and replacement much easier. I am quite pleased with the finished product.

Hi Ron,

Did you end up gluing the new floor down, or just the edges. Did you remove the sofa and other cabinets and put the floor down under those items? If you glued did you use a BeaFlor adhesive?

Was that the lightest color Syntec offered? Do you have the collection name and part number?

Thanks for sharing.

This was the lightest color that matched up with the width of the previous Beu Flor. The color is actually lighter than it appears in the pictures. I did not remove the couch, but I did remove all the other pieces(see att) Check out # 6 above for all the info on ordering. PM me if you need any additional info. Oh yeah, when you remove the under couch drawer be careful to avoid the slide coming apart and all the ball bearings fall on the floor. Don't ask me how I know. In addition, leave enough length for the new material to go under the couch to avoid seeing the carpet, especially in the middle.

Oh, I forgot, I did not use adhesive. I installed the same as AS with staples at the edges.

Did you staple the floors under the transition strip?

Would you be willing to list a price for the beauflor? We want to get rid of the carpet in our trailer.

The piece that I purchased was 8' X 9'. This actually left me some extra. The total cost for the entire project, including shipping was less than $100.
