Flor - Modular carpet
Am considering using Flor on my standard JC sheet vinyl. Maybe using a 3" border in blue with a silver/gray parquet as the main treatment. Curious as to if anyone has experience with it. From their website, it looks like it'd be ideal, but I'm interested on how easily it cleans, wearability, and ease of installation. While I really like the clean look of the CCD, a bit of softening in the interior should make a nice contrast. Thanks!

Have it. Like it. It is real easy to lay and, so far, has held up very well. You might need to use extra FLOR disks in heavy traffic areas.
Mine is over sheet vinyl in the galley area.

John....since you are THE expert on "enhancing" -- your recommendation holds great sway with me. I was planning on measuring the SF....but I'll bet you remember (precisely!) how much it took. Barry

Since it's essentially a commercial carpet, it should stand up very well. I've specified it in buildings and my experience with it has been positive. They have quite a variety of styles and price points, so the possibilities are endless.

Sorry, I misspoke. I have it in the bedroom (twins) and bathroom, not the galley. I have forgotten the count. I ended up with one full square left over. We have that in front of the sink like a small throw rug.
Not hard to get a count. Measure the area and draw it on paper. Doesn't have to be great art. Graph paper makes it easier. Decide where to start and draw in the squares. I used a series of little cardboard templates to draw around for the squares. That way, I could cut the squares as needed to account for part squares.
My carpet has a slightly ribbed surface. I rotated every other piece 90 degrees and it has a chess-board look that adds to the interest. There may be photos in the 2005 Classic 28 thread.

My entire house is done in Flor that I put down myself. Very nice stuff. It's also very durable; I chose a low pile carpet that's residential/commercial. Unsurprisingly, it is showing very little wear. No problems with staining. Like Pahaska, mine is laid parquet style.
Watch their website for sales or close-out styles.

Flor
I went ahead and used FLOR in my 32' Avion.
It turned out great !
Easy to cut and lay down.
I had a few carpet squares left over,so I would say it cost me $450 to do my trailer.

We replaced old carpet with Flor tiles this spring. Just primed the plywood and laid the tiles. I did closet bottoms as well. Easy job, looks good, low nap version cleans easily with vacuum. We like it a lot so far. About $400 for 25 footer, with a number of tiles left in case a stained area needs to be replaced.

We were considering it for an area in our home and took a look at it about 6 mos ago. Our home project is on hold for now so we haven't made any decisions. We went to the store in Atlanta and Looked at them. I was surprised that the ones I liked online, I didn't like when I put it on the floor to look at, and the ones I didn't like online looked great when viewed on the floor. They were very generous with samples so you may want to look at a bunch before you pick one.

Our experience too -- ordered a number of samples, and the one we liked best and used was the one we thought we would like least.
I primed plywood floor with an acrylic primer in case water got beneath carpet tiles. Removed only the drawer under the gaucho, cut tiles to fit, trimmed out with pre-finished oak quarter-round to match cabinets. We think it looks great ...
