Floor color to go with fake brown oak

We have a 31ft. 1974 Sovereign and are redoing floors. We'd like to put down the vinyl plank flooring but we've had a hard time finding a color that goes with the butt ugly fake brown oak that is all over our trailer. Has anyone overcome this challenge and can you show me pictures?

We just did the floors in our 74 with the maple allure. I don't have a great pic but this might give you an idea.

It is almost impossible to match another item's color, so look for a contrasting color. A light colored floor would brighten the trailer. Some flooring stores will lend you a sample so you can check out how it looks.

I was thinking light flooring, too.

You can do some pretty rugs in whatever your color preferences are, to pull it all together.

We decided to go light and went with Allure's Natural Bamboo. The floor brightens up the trailer. I am in a similar dilemma as I start the renovation of a "74" Tradewind.

When faced with a similar challenge compounded by lots of natural light from all of my Minuet's windows, I went with Arlene Fowler's suggestion. She suggested Armstrong Laminate in a light red Cherry - - the light red toning helped the brown vinyl-clad cabinet surfaces to fade into the background yet the light red tones of the Cherry didn't become washed out by the abundant sunshine. Seven years later, I like the color even better than when it was new!

Good luck with your selection!

Kevin

I agree about going for a contrast and I like the look of a non wood type pattern with all the wood cabinets. We just replaced our faux wood click type with a neutral patterned Marmoleum and the contrast looks great - especially when you pop it with an area rug!

Here you go. I just took these so it's in artificial light because its dark here. The color is called Shiitake. I had to add an xtra " i" in the name to get past the web sensors - it's spelled like the mushroom it reads neutral but has a variety of colors in a color swirl pattern which gives it nice dimension. Our wall covering is that original "adobe" pattern the 1990 models often had. Encaps are pained a dark taupe color. Cabinets are orig oak. Med color. We added lots of metal accents too.

I also think the marmoleum looks great! I would also go with a color that contrasts with the cabinets. I just put down a new cork floor in my 66 Tradewind. My second choice was marmoleum.

Good luck.

I just installed an Earthwerks vinyl tile called Innsbruck Plank. it lightened up the space and looks great with the ugly brown plastic in my '75 Safari. Itwas very reasonable and looks awesome!

Really impressed with the beautiful floor choices! I think the lighter shade --providing some contrast -- looks wonderful.

Here's another view, I think the flooring goes well with the vintage look of our trailer.
