Anyone know an rv flooring installer?

We would love to change out our floating Alure floor with Coretec Plus plank? Thanks if you know anyone..we are full-timers so we would love someone in the S.

A floor is a floor. Any home installer can do the job.

Anything has to acclimate - reach the same temperature as the inside of the Airstream - and that normally takes a day, so you'll have to do a hotel for a day, not to mention empty out all of the lower cabinets. I had linoleum put into my Avion and that necessitated taking out some of the walls and furniture too. Some folks seem to be very happy with the click and lock planks, but many are NOT recommended for RV's. Some people have reported buckling or separation. Check all of your options carefully.

Great advice only I find that home installers will not remove the rv throne and put it back in place.

Will do some research and keep trying to get this done. Thanks

I have no personal experience of replacing a floor but follow the Long Long Honeymoon blog, and they had excellent service from Vinnies in CA:

Go to any store that sells flooring ask who they would recommend. After you have showed some interest in buying!

Biggest problem will be finding a good installer. We have laminate in our 25 that is standing up pretty well but it does show some swelling at the door way where water from shoes is in play. I have seen some terrible jobs on floating laminate floors where the installer allowed for movement but the short pieces at the walls shifted and left gaps over time. A bit of glue on the click joints will solve that problem. Good installers will make sure the minimum short length is 8 - 10 inches so there is less potential for the piece sliding way from the joint. You probably have 1/4 round all along the edges of your vinyl and that will need to be removed and replaced as the gap around the edges is needed to allow for thermal and moisture caused expansion. Original flooring in AS is installed before the cabinetry goes in so edges are clean, but replacement requires something to cover the edge of the new flooring, and doing a good job requires some extra scrap to make the edges stable.

Don't know your location, but we had our flooring replaced (seamless wood grain vinyl) at Ronnie Bock's Kerrville RV, in Kerrville, TX.

You might check with "Countryman's Marine and RV Repair" in Foley, Alabama. They have the capabilities, and the knowledge. The problem might be scheduling, they are extremely busy.....

I'm looking to get a new vinyl floor too. The CORetec Plus 5" floor looks promising. With he cork backing you don't have to worry about any imperfections with the subfloor according to the manufacturer. I would think if my cheap then OEM vinyl doesn't show any imperfections then the subfloor is already to go. Another note on the specs it say it doesn't expand or contract although the instructions still state to have 1/4" space to the walls. The wear layer is 20mil and its 8mm thick, locking planks, floating floor. Each box covers 26.6 sq ft which calculates to 16 5"x48" planks per box. Thinking 6 boxes may do my 25fb.

This was also recommended to us. We are going to Bryan, TX end of February and found RV Source who will remove everything for the flooring guy to come to install on location. Fingers crossed..would love a new look in our AS.

What are you planning on having removed? We are in the process of getting bids for a twin bed conversion and floor. The local shop wants to take out the dinette, side lounge and queen then lay the floor down and build the twins over the floor. I think it would be better to build the twin frame over a bare subfloor and just lay the floor between the beds. This would save having to purchase so much flooring, labor and keep the weight down. They want to install quarter round along the hall walls.

None of the flooring from the major sources is recommended to be used in RV from what I can see. They all require conditioned spaces to honor any warranty and at least prevent failure. I suppose if you live in a temperate climate or full time its not as much an issue for someone that stores their AS over the winter in cold climates.

What brand of flooring did you have installed? Did the installation require removal of kitchen cabinets etc? It sounds you had a sheet product installed.

Thanks

Kelvin

We are only removing the front side tables, sofa and toilet. CoretecPlus click and lock sounds like a wonderful floor but now my concern is weight. Guess that is the next thing to check out. Unless we have some hidden floor issues, which would be good to know that is all we are removing. Since we are full-timers, never store and stay in fairly moderate temps hope that will be enough.

36.4lbs per carton.

8 mm thick

Using these numbers for their 5 x 48" plank
5 x 48 = 240 sq in

26.68 sq/ft x 144 sq/in = 3841.92 sq inches

3841.92 / 240 sq in = 16 planks per carton

5 x 16 = 80” wide = 7 foot 8” wide x 4ft long

For my 25fb figure about 6 cartons of material laid which would be about 218lbs roughly. This will probably be considerably heavier than the thin, paper back OEM vinyl.

This flooring is made in China.
