I thought I'd give an update on Allure Click Together flooring. I used this product in my Avion restoration instead of the sticky sided Allure flooring that I used in my previous Avion. That product had gaps due to shrinkage in the cold weather. So, I decided to use the click together because it couldn't let loose of the other side due to cold weather, right? WRONG! I was so careful to leave this floor absolutely floating. I trimmed it out and had nothing on top of it anywhere. Well, I went out there to look at it this morning & the ends have separated. Not only that, but I looked up the warranty for the flooring & it IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR RV'S. So, take my advise if you have any cold weather in your area.....use sheet linoleum or sheet marmoleum or glue down something....just not Allure.... My son & his wife are at the point of picking out their flooring in their restoration & it won't be any Allure or snap together product.

That makes sense. Hopefully it will fit back together when things warm up.

Here's hoping. I really like this floor. I'll be bummed if it doesn't expand back together...really bummed!

My sticky allure has gaps in cold too. But it's ok with me till I decide on something better. Like you I read that it was not recommended for RV use.

I REALLY liked the pattern in my previous trailer. It was the sticky allure. I wish I had read the warranty previously to putting the click together in my trailer. The trim was an absolute PITA!

We haven't been up to see our trailer since last fall, but I can tell you that it hasn't shown anything in terms of damage as of the last time I saw it.

Of course, you might remember that we laid it in the side to side manner, in other words across the floor and not lengthwise.

Keeping fingers crossed till next spring,
Aage

My experience

I had a bad experience with Allure in a previous RV and decided not to use it in either of my Airstreams. Not all click-lock flooring is created equal, however. I used floating engineered wood (oak in the Bambi and cork in the Cloud) and both have held up well in all weather conditions.

The best Vinyl plank floating floor.

There is only one product out there with a decent temperature band width.
Shaw Flooring has a new product called FLOORTE it can withstand 100f to 30f
Most of the other vinyl flooring out there will only stay stable between 50f and 85f
Beauflor is the name of the vinyl stuff in our Airstreams, believe it or not they state that temperatures should not exceed 80f yet the Airstream boys still put it down. The fact it is glued down may make a difference but theoretically in cold weather the glue could fail.
I am putting down the FLOORTE very soon in our 2011 and am honestly considering not giving it a gap, if it does cause an issue, then I just have to remove the edge boards and trim them a little. So I am waiting for the weather to heat up down here in Georgia.

We installed Allure in 2015 in our Airstream. For two years of full time it held up great.

Now we're in Idaho over the winter and the Airstream is in storage. This is the first time we experienced separation problems. EVERYWHERE.

I guess because it never got cold in the Airstream while full-time, the floor never contracted enough.

I'll be going with something different this time around.

Well i have found an even better product.

By chance yesterday I went into Lowes, i stumbled across a floor product I had not seen before. Got a sample, came home and searched its details, part of it here.....

READ BEFORE INSTALLING
While SMARTCORE is waterproof, it’s not a moisture barrier. It’s still a good idea to make sure concrete is cured and tested for
moisture and that a moisture barrier is installed in the crawl space and even under a SMARTCORE floor over a concrete subfloor.
Moisture won’t damage SMARTCORE, but it can get in the walls and structure of the home. A couple of extra dollars and a few
minutes is a small investment for the added protection and peace of mind.
Because houses and buildings, as well as adjacent hardwood or laminate floors, expand and contract, Natural Floors
recommends to leave a ¼” expansion gap between the perimeter walls and any adjacent hardwood floor.
Natural Floors recommends using the glue down method when installing SMARTCORE where it will be exposed to temperatures
greater than 140° F (60° C) or below 32° F (0° C).
Use good common sense installation practices, and you’ll have a successful installation that results in a beautiful floor.

Note the 140F max temp, way higher than the other product I had set myself on, so I have just ordered the stuff. Chose.....

SANDHILL OAK #749840 $3.48 per sq ft.

Marmoleum click together

I installed my allure stick together floor about a year ago and it has many separations in it, some up to 1/4". Has anyone ever tried the CLICK together Marmoleum? I believe it comes in either 1' squares or a 1x3' strip.

Thank you,
Mike

I installed Allure click together flooring in my 32S last fall. Well, over the cold winter here in NW Indiana, the planks separated lengthwise. UGG!! On a really hot day they went back together, but today (it's about 65 degrees) they are separated again. I think this happened because the length of the trailer is the length of the plank along the middle. I left plenty of space for expansion on the ends, but the contraction is what made the separation.By the way, the warranty DOES NOT cover RV's. I saw this after I installed it. While this may seem like a drastic solution, I did it anyhow. I cut the flooring across & installed a transition piece to allow for expansion & contraction at the point where the flooring separated. It's not what I wanted my floor to have in it, but if it works, I guess it'll be ok. The pictures tell the story. I'll report back after next winter!Click image for larger version
