I spoke to the manager of a local grocery store where they'd installed the Allure. They were ripping it out about 15 months after installing it.

It looked horrid about 1 year after installation, but the problem was a poorly prepared surface more than the product itself. The extreme amount of traffic on a commercial space didn't help either. What happened was that prior to installing this product they'd had normal 12x12" tiles put down with contact cement and the "cleanup" done when they removed them wasn't done properly. Little bits of adhesive were left along with a few gouge marks where the removal had been a bit too aggressive. After a while the heavy traffic flattened the vinyl so much that every little bump and dip showed through.

If you plan to use it, make sure the surface is smooth and clean. A tiny pebble will become visible as time goes by.

My daughter & I are out camping right now & I thought I'd update the allure flooring debacle....It has expanded back quite a bit compared to what it was it was this spring. It's acceptable, since the care is so easy. Mine has a little bulge from expanding in one area, but I'm going to wait to address that until after we've gone through a winter with it installed.

I installed Allure (not the one with the glue strips) during December, last winter. The Allure with the "click and snap" assembly is much the same as most of the laminate flooring products, as it is a "floating" floor. Also, it's supposed to be waterproof. It's a lot easier to install than the laminate products.
So far, there has been no problems, as it can expand and contract with the temperature changes. This is the third AS that we've redone, if we do another, I think I'll use the same product again.

Good to hear, Larry. If I ever do another floor, I'll go with the click together kind you used.

This the same flooring that WalMart uses in the clothing areas of the store.

We put it in and love the way it looks! Let's hope winter isn't to hard on it.

Here are some better photos of our 1986 excella bunkhouse. We are really happy with the allure flooring.

We're looking to replace ugly carpet in our 2003 30' Land Yacht MH. Love the Allure and appreciate all of the input in this thread. We're in So Cal and it sounds like it might be OK here, as we don't have the temperature extremes in many of the areas with not-so-happy users. Let me know if I'm mis-interpreting the input here... thx...

Still happy, but still keeping fingers crossed

We put the sticky-edge Allure on about half of Henri's floor, directly on the plywood underlay. We went horizontal (across the trailer), our reasoning being that that way left shorter planks. We hoped that would mean less swelling or shrinkage.

It made it through last year's horribly cold weather perfectly, and we are hoping it will make it again. Here's a link to what the "cork" finished Allure looks like. I still love the look.

If you don't get to post #175 from that link, you will find it not far from the end of the thread. We are planning to finish the other half of the TT this spring.

Aage, still thinking that Allure is the way to go for flooring.

I thought I'd give an update on Allure Click Together flooring. I used this product in my Avion restoration instead of the sticky sided Allure flooring that I used in my previous Avion. That product had gaps due to shrinkage in the cold weather. So, I decided to use the click together because it couldn't let loose of the other side due to cold weather, right? WRONG! I was so careful to leave this floor absolutely floating. I trimmed it out and had nothing on top of it anywhere. Well, I went out there to look at it this morning & the ends have separated. Not only that, but I looked up the warranty for the flooring & it IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR RV'S. So, take my advise if you have any cold weather in your area.....use sheet linoleum or sheet marmoleum or glue down something....just not Allure.... My son & his wife are at the point of picking out their flooring in their restoration & it won't be any Allure or snap together product.
