Shocks for '63 Ambassador

Does anyone know what shocks to use on my 63? Do the 63s use the same as 69?

From mid 1968 to the present, Airstream used a "horizontal shock".

Prior to that vertical shocks were used.

However, horizontal shocks will work vertically.

You can cut the vertical bracket in half, reweld it so that there is a maximum of 14.5 inches between the shock studs using a good axle.

The, you can forever use the special Airstream shocks.

They are not expensive.

The standard shocks for Airstreams (horizontal) will work on your '63. They are available from any Airstream dealer. With some careful shopping, you may even save a few dollars on shipping.

Or save the labor mount shock vertically as designed and go with generic shocks.
