installation of shocks

Hi, I am new to the world of Airstream. I have a '75 Sovereign and believe it is time for new shocks. I have heard that the axle must be removed to install the shocks. Is this true?

Many more questions to come.

Axles do not need to be removed when replacing your shocks. If a shop told you that, then they are out for your pocket. If the shocks won't clear the frame when removing them or installing them, use a little caution when you do the following. Back the nut off just enough so that the backside of the threads cannot be touched. Take a crow bar, and place it against the nut. Bend the bracket just enough to remove the shock. You do not need to strighten the bracket after installation of the new shocks. Let the others know when your done, of how simple the task is. Andy
