CAUTION! Unscrews shocks

Hello, I bought a 25-foot Flying Cloud 2011 last year. I just go out for the summer season. She has about 3000 km. This afternoon I removed the wheels to paint the drum brake with a black paint. I noticed on the left side of the trailer, were the shocks that are screw to the chassis of the trailer was almost all loosened. One more lap and screws the 2 screw are falling. I was surprised!!! My questions:

1-Is this a problem with the new AS? Does any one have this problem?

2-I noticed that there was only washer and no lock nut, does he need one?

3-Finally, is it necessary that the screws are firmly closed?

If by screws you mean the nuts? Then yes our 08 19 Ocean Breeze did lose a nut and the shock was dangling from the top bolt only. I bought a replacement bolt and lock washer and secured the Shock absorber and checked the other bolts.

If your shock mounting bolt is a shoulder bolt, most are. There should be a flat washer against the grommet of the shock on both sides. On the outside. The hole in the flat washer should be smaller than the shoulder on the bolt. Install the appropriate size flat washer, then a lock washer and finally the nut. The nut should be tightened to the point that the offset in the lock washer is pressed flat. Over tightening the nut will distort the lock washer and defeat the purpose.

I discovered the same problem on my '06. Replaced nut and washer on both shocks and used some loc-tite on the threads. All has worked well since.

I put some lock Tite, in it, so i will see if it's going to be ok...

Ditto on Johnco's comments, on our 2005. Must have been one person on the manufacturing line doing all the shocks. Suspect that the nuts were only finger-tight, and no one followed up by torquing the hardware. Then, nuts worked their way loose while driving.

Was the flange nut and washer still in place? Torque it down good and loctite red should hold it.

They make aviation nuts as well that will lock onto the stud without loctite. I would use blue loctite if I were yall. The red is for larger more substantial bolts and you could twist off the little stud on removal.
