What should I do with this wall?
This is the wall adjacent to the tub in our 1970 safari. It was originally covered in wallpaper, but was beginning to deteriorate, so I removed it. what I'm left with is a wooden wall with adhesive remnants on it. So lies my delima....I'm not interested in recovering with more wallpaper... have never been adept at hanging it, so... - Should I try to remove the adhesive, sand it, stain it and waterseal it?
- Should I try to remove the adhesive, prime it and paint it to match the rest of the bathroom surround?
- Should I cover it with some sort of laminant paneling (I considered aluminum, but a bit out of my price range for this project.)
Any ideas? Can anyone show me examples of what you've done with a wall like this?

Cover it with "formica".

Glue some FRB board over it. It is fiber reinforced plastic and you see it used a lot in bathrooms in public places. I would then caulk the edges.

I used vinyl flooring (the sheet type) and double sticky back tape designed for such flooring. It's been on the wall for over 2 years thru 100+ to -40 degree weather and is still hanging in there so to speak.
It's easily cleaned and looks better (warmer) than Formica.

Formica is not a bad idea Andy. One would think you have been doing this for decades. I am going to have to deal with this as soon as I get my shower going.

wall treatment
Our Argosy walls were a mess when we bought her- The PO attempted to peel some of the wallpaper off, and a sticky mess was left behind on the bare wood in the bathroom, and in other places wallpaper was on but buckling, and we approached each wall one by one because they each had unique issues. In the end-- we sanded the sticky bathroom wall which had all the wall paper removed, and we used Zinsser's BIN as a primer at the suggestion of someone here on the forum for that wall and also as a primer on the wall where we left the wallpaper intact. We then used exterior grade Valspar satin-finish from Lowe's (after I obsessed mightily about the best color to select) as the final paint (a couple coats for good coverage) and the walls look very nice. The interior was painted a year ago and shows no signs of problems. I breathed a sigh of relief. We DID replace two walls- they were damaged beyond repair. It all looks good now. You will see threads on mobile home forums discussing the "painting over vinyl wall paper" issue, and Kilz is NOT the remedy...
Good luck
Kathy

Thanks for all your suggestions and advice. I'm going to take a trip to Home Depot thins weekend and will come back with either a sheet of Plas-tex or a can of primer and paint. Stay tuned!

Get some of the faux stamped tin from Home Depot. It is plastic, but looks just like the real thing and can be cut with scissors. Apply it with adhesive, starting at the bottom so that the overlaps prevent water from entering at the seams.
It really looks good in an Airstream. I used it for a splash by the sink, to cover a scarred wall where I removed a mirror, and for the face of my refrigerator. It never fails to get admiring comments.

Wow. That looks really nice. I love the idea of covering the face of the fridge. We replaced our fridge a while back and its faux wooden front doesnt really blend with the rest of the cabinets. Did it come in sheets or squares?

I am in love with some of the new "metal" laminates... Like these. Decorative Metals
Can't be used on work spaces ( like countertops) but fine for backslashes and such.

It comes in sheets about 2' by 3'. It took 3 sheets to cover the 8 cu ft fridge in my trailer. Cost was about the same as buying the Dometic inserts. It is thinner than the Dometic inserts so I bought black rubber window screen spline to insert all around the sheets to fill the gap.
Look for it in the area of Home Depot where they have rugs and the like. There are a number of patterns that they stock in the store and more that they will order for you.
Here is my fridge face.

I know this sounds completely off the wall, but I am Rhino Lining my entire shower. The plastic in my shower is clean and flawless! I hate the idea of seams that need to be caulked, and there will always certainly be some little leak!
Rhino Line will seal everything and prevent any future leaks, and eliminate any maintenance. Additionally I will get a nice white surface on all sides, plus is textured to provide a non skid surface.
This gives me an excuse to modernize/ upgrade my fixtures to something other than the "gold" finish that used to be so stylish!
$200 for the real deal

I guess it's a layer of pure metal laminated to a laminate core (phenolic papers). The good thing is that it won't kink like metal will. I have seen samples and it's pretty cool. I don't remember pricing but it wasn't inexpensive. The prices range too depending on the metal. Someone on here wrapped a dinette in it. I remember seeing it but no clue where....

I called a local distributor today. The minimum order was a 4 x 8 sheet, and the cost was $175 plus shipping (about $50).

The sheets I posted about earlier from Home Depot cost a lot less. HD can order quite a variety of finishes and colors.

That sounds even better! Thanks! The guy at our HD wasn't very helpful, so I called a countertop place. I'll try back there and talk to someone else.
