Smile What In the world is that ...........

Well the vacation went well. The drive was great, Florida was warm. An heck even getting mooned on our way to Texas to pick up my sovereign trailer, during Mardi Gras was uhhhhhhhh different. Now here is where the fun begins note to every one. (ford rangers can’t handle 30’ foot of trailer for long ). What’s that commercial for visa? One smoking truck, One hotel room in Alabama, One u-haul truck, 3 quarts of oil every 100 miles, making it home with limping truck and u-haul with trailer in tow. Priceless. What a trip home now to start the Fun.

Well all I can say is Ewwwwwww . After the primary resident one dead possum , was evicted by shovel out the back window. I was able to get down and dirty. Dirty being the key words, we're starting with the walls and then ripping out the floor. I’m going to start from the ground up literally.

Sounds like an interesting trip. Welcome to the forums!
Your post was a bit hard to read due to the small font, I would recommend an increase on the next post.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with my age...
Good to have another new member.

My eyes and mind are tricking me?

Hi, I read this about twelve times; Are you telling us that you actually towed a 30' Airstream trailer with a Ford Ranger? Please post pictures.

Welcome

The reason I sold my Ford ranger was because it would not tow a 1968 19 foot Globetrotter and you hooked a 30 foot trailer to one. You need to be here, and we a glad you are.

Well I guess that slow and steady wins the race. An fiber glass insulation is itchy ewww. I could probably wish for colder temps, an not get them. Almost done with gutting out too, with the one cap and floor left .. Then I'll see what the belly really looks like, the frame looks okay so that's a plus. My grandmother placing bets on how much we have done before we start to haul it. She bets it's just the floor. I bought a bigger truck hehe, sad thing is while I was working on the Turnpike I seen another, Ranger pull a 30' or plus trailer hope he isn't going to far . Well I haven't be able to up load any pics on to the site but, as they say try try try again....

Welcome in! Glad you joined us.

Remember the most important thing you will need in your restoration is a sense of humor.

You pulled it with a Ranger

Please tell me that your new truck is a 3/4 ton and not a Chevy Luv.

From the Airstream weight chart PDF:

1968 SOVEREIGN 30 DOUBLE 4640# with 415 tongue weight

I seem to recall some Rangers had up to a 4500-pound tow capacity...

I'm not sure but.........

It might have been the Ranger that had the tow rating moved down to 2000 lbs. , after a few lawsuits. I always suspected that tow ratings were manipulated by Marketing, rather than documented by engineering.
