What The Heck Are These For?

Would someone look in my photos file and have any ideas about my questions there? I think one may be for a clothes line and one may be for some kind of plank? But it beats me what the heck the others are for. Help! I can't sleep.

I looked at the two photos with questions, the "bar" photo does not seem to have any in it, the "clothesline" photo seems to have a wire installed under the front storage compartment. If you have graphic capability, maybe you could put in an arrow pointing at what you want to know about, and we will know where to look for what you need to know about.

Gwen... I believe that your airstream was once equipped with factory bunks, one over each twin. What you see is the mounting hardware. I have yet to actually see one of these bunks (none of them seem to have survived), and I can't picture how they actually hung, but I have seen other trailers similarly equipped with the brackets.

Perhaps one of our membership can provide photos of a trailer with these installed...

I believe that the fitting in this photo is likely an attachment point for the hammock bunks that were optional on most Airstreams at least through the mid-1970s. I have four of these over the side-twins in my '64 Overlander for the hammock bunks that were ordered by its original owners in 1964.



I suspect that the bars in the photo below are in the cabinet above the refrigerator. I have no idea whether they are OEM or if they were owner added, but they would make a nice location to hang dish rags and dish towels for quick drying and easy accessability.



In the photo below, if what you are referring to is the aluminum arm that the lamp is sitting on, it is a swivel mount for a small portable television. I also suspect that you might have aluminum "L" brackets hidden by the drapes that would support the outside frame of the hammock bunks - - these would be another part of the mounting devices that are shown in another of your photos.



In the photo below, the device in the top right corner is another hammock bunk bracket. I suspect that just out of range in the lower left of this photo is where you will likely find an aluminum "L" bracket that would be the attachment point for the outer rail of the hammock bunk.



Stellablu has the only photo posted in the gallery that I have seen of an original installation (in storage position) of the cabinet bunks - - the hammock bunks in my '64 Overlander were stored in one of the wardrobes. It seems that there were several variations in the hammock bunks over the years. The "L" bracket for the sidewall support of the hammock bunk frame can be seen in the photo just to the right and slightly below the reading lamps. Stellablu's photo is below:
