I've got a 1978 31' Sovereign
and want to replace the upper storage lockers as they are mostly cracked (and I've already moved them out).
I'm considering options to replace them out of plywood (mixed thicknesses to preserve lightness) with simple sliding doors.
My question is, in the original design, there seems to be a little gap in the top part of the locker so that it doesn't go flush with the ceiling. I would like to build cabinets that go flush with the top as it will be a cleaner design. I have this funny feeling that the little gap allowed a little bit of "play" as if allowing flex while traveling. Thoughts?
