Type of Wood Finish?

We have an '01 25' Excella and the interior wood is in need of some touch up finish in places. Does anyone know what type of finish it is? It appears to be some sort of laquer finish, but I'd like to know for sure if possible, before I try to touch it up.

There are a number of products on the market that will work. I'm not familar with a unit that new, mine is a 63. First determine the sheen, gloss, semi-gloss, low-sheen, matt, flat etc. If it is a lacquer, there is a product called DEFT, it is a brushable lacquer that dryes fast 5-10 min. I has a nice look and fairly e-z to use and dosen't have that heavy build up look that polyurathane, varnish etc. have. I know there is alot of talk and opinons on these forums reguarding the wood finish. Good Luck!!

I would use Lacquer or shellac. These will give you the best finish. The Lacquer you will need to vent very well as it has a strong smell and can make you feel really happy....

Thanks for your input. I do have some experince with finishing wood, and I would very much like to use a product of the same base at least, if not the exact product originally used on the wood.

Do you suppose Airstream customer service could tell me?

I would most definitely contact them. Your unit is still fairly new and i think they would know.

Just an update on this subject....I talked with Airstream, and they told me the finish on the wood in my trailer is a laquer based finish.

So, I looked around in my stash of old paints and varnishes, and found a half can of a product called Deft, semi gloss, which is laquer based. Used it to touch up the areas needing assistance, and it looks great. Just like new.

Thanks for everyone's input on this.
