Things That Make You Go HUH?

Ran across this in the middle of a restoration. What in the world were they thinking...or not thinking!

Wasn't electrical tape the "fix-all" before duct tape came along?

Did you perform a leak test to see if the tape actually worked as intended? I'd personally reserve criticism until after I knew whether it did the job. If it did, it's hard to argue with success…

Though I'll admit, that's definitely not the way I'd do it…

Did not pass sniff test...did not pass leak test. A potential deadly situation.

Are there holes in the pipe? I have seen this sort of patch and all that was needed was to tighten the nut. There is almost no pressure on these lines. You could use aquarium hose from a pressure standpoint but from a safety standpoint copper is used.

Yea, that's definitely not up to my standards.....I would have used Duct Tape.

Electrical tape is for insulation purposes and much too expensive to use on a non electrical devise.

Damn, they should have used the other universal product on that repair, silicone sealant.
