taking out the bathtub

Ok, Everyone seems to say that everything came in through the front door on the AS. But for the life of me I couldn't get the bathtub out the door of my 68.

No matter what why I put it, it is just to big.. And I striped it down so there was nothing on it.

I refinished it in the tore out back this morning and moved it to the front while I am replacing the floor.

It would have been nice to do it in the garage, lots of fumes, thank goodness for the respirator.

Very helpful info Jason.
I have asked and opined a few times and never had a solid answer. Of course different years may (and probably do) behave differently.
Can we presume your trailer is a rear bath model?
Would you have been able to even get the tub to the entrance door without removing bulkheads and maybe furniture?
Can I presume you did not have to remove any of the galley counters or cabinets?
I cannot recall but isn't a '68 galley sink cabinet curbside?
Is there any doubt your tub was broken down to it's smallest? In other words was there possibly some type of backsplash/wall section etc that may have been "fused" "cemented" etc once tub was inside the trailer?
Glad you made it work out even though you couldn't work it out... <g>.
thanks in advance

My, bulk heads where all out. there is no way it was going forward with them in. It wouldn't even come close to going through the bathroom door.. It is a rear bath and a big bathtub / shower. Yep all the splashes where off. The problem is it has a shelf attached to the tub and there is no way it is going through the door. I had to take it back to the back to re-coat it. No big deal but it would have been nice to get it out to do it.

Smile Tub

Jason,

I recently removed the tub from my 68 Trade Wind. I had to remove the closet and shower walls first. No other way. Lots of screws and rivets. Also, getting the thing out the front door took a lot of turning and thinking, but once I had it turned right, no problem. I new if came in that way so it had to go out.

Good Luck.

I post a pic of the tub tomorrow and you can tell me if its the same as yours. I tried and thought for a good 1/2 hour and just couldn't see how it was going to fit through that door.
