Submarine Theme?

Since are trailers have been compared to a submarine, I was thinking of doing a nautical theme inside my trailer.

Has anyone done this? What do you guys think?

The Airstream Land Sub?
The 2003 Airstream Trident?

Get one of those nautical whistles and blow it just before you drive away. Make sure to seal the hatch before driving away!

You'd have to start using the terms port, stern, bow, and starboard! No more curbside jargon.

You'd be going on voyages and not trips.

Get an old Argosy and paint it yellow. I'd have to paint my MH pink because the backfire and couching generator reminds me of that old pink sub in the WWII movie. Forget the name....

When you use the rest room, you'd be taking on ballast.
When you dump you'd be reducing the ballast.

All jokes aside, I think the "What do people say" thread indicated it was something to play with and have fun. I think it would work.

Where do I find that felt stuff for my starboard port hole?

Put your WBCCI numbers on the side in White and name the vessel. Get a black cap with your WBCCI and vessel name in Yellow.

Of course Peter would tag me as an overweight Gilligan and not the Skipper I'd like to be! He's a shu-in for the Professor.

Although the 4x4 club in El Paso that we belong to calls ours "The Titanic", I'd be hard pressed to change decor. My WIFE, on the other hand, would change in a heart beat and then insist I design a pontoon system and rig an outboard motor to the bumper! I just won't let her read this thread! Oscar

Lightbulb Old Navy

You know I always wanted an excuse to wear one of those Skipper (from Gilligan) Yacht caps. It is a shame that Airstream never developed a nifty logo like Harley Davidson, or Cadilac, or Buick etc.did. Guess the anchor patch would have to be replaced with something appropriate...but what.....?? maybe an embroidered check book!
And instead of white I guess they'd be light blue or silver..ugh.And all the women could wear those flapper hats from the Great Gatsby days.
Or better yet,for the gals those little fold up commodore hats that kids in cartoons always wore, cept made of aluminum foil.

I can't wait to see what you come up with on this theme. Honestly, I think that's what finally sold my husband on the idea of acquiring our bit of Americana and a nautical theme is quite apropriate. Be sure to keep us posted!

Along those lines, has anyone checked out the Christmas 1996 Neiman Marcus $195,000 "His and Hers" bejeweled baby? Wow, that's some over-indulgence! http://www.mrsharkey.com/busbarn/trailers/trailers.htm (scroll to the last feature)

I was thinking of these Navy Surplus blankets for bedding as part of the theme. There are also the vintage white navy blankets with the blue stripe on them. What do you think?

I LOVE your theme idea. We are using patriotic colors in our 1976 (bicentennial) Argosy MH.

I think you could have a ton of fun with the nautical theme. Maybe put a round life preserver on the back, with the name of your vessel and your WBCCI number?

Just one question: would you need to call the Coast Guard if you had a major problem on the road?

The Navy theme is a nice idea, but have you ever slept under one of those scratchy blankets?

No, I was assuming the modern ones would be a little less scratchy

Carmen ~ Did you check out the pasta attached to the walls in the bathroom on that Neiman Marcus one? Nice touch...snacks for the mice! What WERE they thinking!!! Besides...it's a bit over done...don't you think, even for Neiman Marcus!?

I'll take a "cheap 'ol RL trailer" before I'd buy that one!
