Strange wormy marks under Zolatone

Hi,
I just began to strip the Zolatone from the interior walls. I used "Premium Stripper" from Klean Strip. The paint came off pretty easily but when it was all off there were these strange marks that looked like little worms etched into the aluminum.
Did Airstream etch the aluminum before painting it? Did the remover harm the aluminum?
I was dissapointed because I had wanted some bare Aluminum in my interior like so many restorers have done.
I only did about 4 square ft so at least I did not ruin much if it was the stripper.
Thanks,
Eric

It's called filiform corrosion, do a search for it here on the forum. When I stripped my panels I found it also, mostly above where battery box was. Try another panel, maybe the damage was limited to one area.

It will polish out with some effort.

My panels had also been prepped with something that left swirls of discoloration. You can see a pattern of the washing swaths. I'm leaning toward re-zolotoning now.
