Stick on tile over zolatone?

Anyone use stick on tiles over zolatone? I’m planning on adding a backsplash in my kitchen/galley area. If yes did anyone use gorilla glue or contact cement for extra support? Thanks.

#1 - I don't think your 1972 has Zolatone. Zolatone is a speckled epoxy paint. Airstream stopped using Zolatone in the mid-sixties.
I'm pretty sure your 1972 has vinyl wallcovering on the walls, which tends to "off-gas/deteriorate" and become tacky after 40+ years.

#2 - Regardless, tiles probably wouldn't stick well to either surface with Gorilla Glue - that's a better adhesive for porous materials and clamped.

#3 - The basic adhesive on "stick-on tiles" is probably not strong enough to withstand the vibration and temperature swings of a trailer. And may react with the off-gassing vinyl.

#4 - If you were determined to glue on tiles, Liquid Nails or a silicone-type glue would probably be better. But the surface must be very, very clean first.
