You could opt for any arrangement you want, but this looked appealing on your photo from above if you like the modern..
If it were me I wouldn't put an 8 track in place even if you could get one. I know some people like vintage to the bone, and other like vintage looks with modern upgrdes. For instance if I were to consider placing an old antique radio in my AS then I would look for one of those replica radios from an era long past, hence new radio with old looks.
Just kinda played with your photo (Sat Morning wiht nothing to do)

Cool Alleged Martian Margarita Machine

this is a Martian (?) instrument of torture...

one of their leaders hooks you up to it, and after a few minutes you're oblivious to the pain...

I agree -- fun, fun, fun!

Our set up has the speakers on the side (beside the doors). Then inside the left hand door, is a "frame/box" with an automotive radio/cassette player.

Great flicks folks, almost like being there, THANKS! Ya know there must be a wee bit of insanity with us Airstreamers. Just look at this thread. Itís a good thing. On the stereo issue, if you install one over the gaucho of a modern style, get one with a CD changer and a remote control. Itís a pain to get up sometimes and walk the twenty feet to change the radio station or put on a new CD.
