Specs? Blue Prints? What lies beneath the floor...

Hi-

Anyone know if blueprints of airstreams exist? We're pulling out the rotted floor, the screws are rusted out, so we (i.e., my husband) has been dabbaling with the saws-all. Yes, feel free to roll your eyes, we (he) sawed through a water tank (which we might have decided to replace anyway...)

Also, if anyone would like to suggest the best threads on replacing the floor, that would be great. I'm doing a search, but sometimes you miss the best convo's that a venerable member might recall.

Not much resides beneath the floor but your tanks. It's not uncommon to find all kinds of nasty things under the floor so be prepared.

When searching, I find using Google directly works the best. Try something like "site:airforums.com subfloor replacement" directly in Google and you'll get many hits.

I used a circular saw set to just slightly less than the thickness of the plywood. No damage that way. Then, a one inch hole saw can cut down over the tops of the elevator bolts and the pieces of floor will come right out. That's in my thread and blog below, but there are better threads.

A service manual is available for your 76 31'.

It does not give dimensions, but it does tell you about all the systems, including photo's, as to how to repair, or replace the whatevers.

once floor board are out a die grinder with cutting wheel and needle nose vise grips work well for removing rusted elevator bolts. don't forget eye protection and a spray bottle of water will help wwith the minor fires .
