Speaker Covers 1969 Overlander!?

Hi All,

I'm trying to beautify my moms 1969 27' Overlander for xmas. The worst interior blemish is the missing front speaker covers. They have a curve to them, which makes it very difficult to customize something. Anyone have a line on them? I am also interest in anything 1969, especially for the interior restoration project.

Thank you!

Wade

overlander speaker covers

Well, It appears I am not able to add pictures? Its shows a place to add video below, and I've selected my photo file, but it doesn't transfer into the thread. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Wade

Sorry you’re having difficulty posting images.

Take a look at my old thread about speaker replacement, images from posts 1 & 9. There are also a few photos that others have put up showing theirs. I’m guessing yours are similar.

If you really want to beautify her Airstream, why don’t you consider upgrading the speakers while you’re at it?

Here's a picture showing the speakers there. I found them on ebay at some point. They were used on 1970 trailers as well. Call Colaw's RV salvage and keep an eye out. A pair will turn up. You can put any 6x9 speaker you want behind them. That was our first Airstream, a 69 tradewind. 69 is a weird Airstream year, first of the wide body, some odd window things and more transitions to 1970, it's a beast all in itself. Was great and at times wish I still had it!

Those are different. Thanks for posting a photo, helps clear things up.

I like that they will take 6x9 speakers.

Good luck finding some, Wade.

You might be able to make some quickies out of cardboard or some other flexible material -cut to shape, cut openings in speaker area and cover in fabric. Then you'll have more time to look for the real grills.
