Source of Tambour material

Hello All, Does anyone know a good source of replacement tambour material. The tambour under the kitchen sink is pretty much shot. I realy don't know where to look. Thanks in advance george.

Thanks, That was way quicker response than I thought possible. I have talked to winnona, they want $100.00 for a 4x8 sheet and $50.00 to ship it to NJ. I am even willing to do that if I have to,but, I really only need a piece about 2ftx4ft. to go under the kitchen sink.

Do it

Get it, cut what you need, and put the rest in the free classifieds here.. I am sure others need a 2x4 piece as well.

Here's another vendor. I don't know how quality or price might compare.

You can also get it from Airstream thru a dealer. Called the factory a few weeks ago - it's like $240 for a 4x8 sheet.

The po of our trailer took the old the old tambor and used it to fashion new cabinet doors, framing the tambor. Looks good.

Try a hobbiest's wood working store...like Rocklers (think roll-top desk). If they don't carry it locally, they may be able to tell you who does. They may however, only have the wood kind though...not the laminate faced. But you most likely wouldn't be able to match the old laminate with new anyways...

I've also heard of some folks repairing the tambour itself by glueing the pieces onto new canvas...if you have all the old pieces, this may be a more economical solution as well.

I repaired some tambour on my last trailer. I found stock at a local dealer who specialized in formica veneers - Wilsonart, etc. It came in 4x8 sheets, was easu to cut with a 60-80 tooth circular saw blade. Stain and finish with high gloss polyurethane. The trick was getting it to go in the tracks. I could not bend it much and didn't want to take the whole unit apart. I cut small slots in the track as close to the open end and carefull slipped the door into the track and roller collector. It never came out because I never opened the door that much. Worked well and looked great. No I don't have pictures.
