Skin options for the interior of my 20' Argosy MH

Needing to replace the the interior skins on my 1974 Argosy MH 20'. What are my options or suggestions. Half of the old panels are gone.

Are you talking about the aluminum panels or the molded plastic inserts (like over the driver's area)?

The interior walls are aluminum sheets with contact paper riveted to the frame.

I thought about putting 1/8 in plywood up. but you can use aluminum our anything that will curve slightly.

inside panels but not yhe front or rear bulk areas

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but those inside panels are structural, so I would go with aluminum of the same (or greater) thickness.

Might not be structural on a MH, if that is what the original poster has. Jim

Looks like a 20' Argosy....

If you want to use wood I would still say put the aluminum up first, the main reason being that IF (or maybe it's better to say WHEN) a leak happens you will have at least one barrier between the wood and the water.
The second reason is that there are a surprisingly small amount of ribs to secure the inside skin on. This works alright for aluminum, but wood might be more difficult to secure if you can't put screws anywhere you need them.

Interesting. I've owned my 20 footer for 10 years and wondered the same thing. Some of the panels, like in the kitchen are abs. That said, it seems to me that in Airstream's design the interior panels are an integral part of the structure.

While there may some abs in places, it doesn't follow that the aluminum isn't needed.

Without addressing strength issue wood vs. aluminum, having put 30,000 mi.
on mine, wood may be strong enough but too soft for the fasteners with the jarring of the ride. When the suspension is refreshed with new bushings, etc.,
It's a stiff ride.

I'd love to connect and ck yours out. With the exception of the bathroom and ajoining closet my 20' is stripped right down to the bare aluminum on the inside. PO kept 90% of what he removed plus he had partialy stripped another 20'er so I have a lot of duplicate parts. Missing the drivers side rear banana skin and I can't seem to find one anywhere.

Inlandrv has banana wraps made out of abs for some MH.
