Shower Redo: More Aluminum!

The shower in my trailer was lined with heavy vinyl wallpaper over wood and aluminum walls. It started to peel a bit a while ago, which was a good thing as I wanted to remove it. I stripped it off of the wood walls easily and discovered that given its degree of adhesion to the aluminum walls that I would just leave it in place there. Makes a nice decorative accent to have a bit of it.

The plywood walls are in beautiful condition so it appears that the vinyl wallpaper has done its job over the past 25 years. Now what to replace it with? I read here about folks painting with Krylon Brush On Fusion and Rustoleum Countertop paint and they seem happy with the results. But after thinking about it for a while I decided to cover the wood walls with - drum roll - aluminum! I'm thinking that I'm going to love the way it looks and that it should be a pretty solid solution. Same caulking issues as outside, but maintenance should be minimal.

I'm open to hints and advice. I know someone who is an experienced aluminum worker and I'm thinking of having him do the work. He may have his own ideas, but what kind of aluminum sheeting do you recommend?

I'll post some before pictures in the next couple of days and some after pictures when it's completed.

I would try to get coated aluminum so it won't spot and tarnish.

This was discussed previously and the consensus is that coated or anodized aluminum would be a good long term approach.

If you go "As Is" let us know how the aluminum performs for you.

Still planning on using aluminum (anodized - thanks) for the shower walls. That's going to take a little time and I needed an interim solution so, after a little research I decided to paint the walls with Krylon Fusion. I've always been a Krylon fan and many here have used the Fusion for interior painting, including showers.

But few had my adventure...

Krylon Fusion is hard to find in brush on but readily available in spray cans. I'm going camping this weekend and wanted to get things moving. So the crazy impatient Birdman used rattle cans. I did a decent job masking and it came out well - other than the fact that every object in the trailer, including me, was covered with over-spray. A little bit of work to clean up (!) but I'm pleased to report all is fine. And not only is the shower painted - I have one clean trailer!

After this cures I'm going to brush on Varathane Polyurethane for a little extra protection. Then eventually the aluminum.

Now I need to do the bathroom. Then the kitchen. Then...
