Seeking a simple way to remove the tabletop

I need about half of the table surface. I keep the generator under it so I need to have a "top" over that. Is there any way to take out the existing top, other than the obvious....removing the screws. I can store it at home for most trips. I've found a child's desk that would fit and do the job of covering the generator and still give me easy access to get it out. Anyone see a problem with this idea??? 23' RB Flying Cloud 2013

That all sounds awkward. The best generator storage/transport....other than in the bed of a the Rubbermaid container. It holds the generator, cables and "contains" any odors.
"If it can't be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled or composted
then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production."
