What is the best way to secure TV while traveling? And other loose items stored on floor? Need help with some ideas.

I use the adhesive TV ties that are available at Camping World and most RV dealers. They have them that will tie down quite large TV sets. I used them on the credenza to tie down a 13" set with built-in DVD player and it never moved. I used 2 ties on diagonal corners of the set.

My current flat panel TV simply lies on its face on a non-slip pad on the credenza and never moves.

Stuff on the floor, I make sure is against a forward surface and I use a pillow or something similar o keep it from sliding or tipping to the side. Braking is the only real strong force that the object will experience; accelleration is too slow to make any difference.

Exclamation Thanks PaHaska

Thanks alot, I will look for those ties this weekend. I am new to this and I do not want to Butcher up the inside of the trailer as it is in mint condition. Any other tips on storage while traveling would be of great help. Thanks again!

i made a seat belt for mine!

i used two 3 inch heavy duty brass door handles screwed into the cabinet behind the tv. then i went to the hardware store and purchased 6 feet of 3 nylon webbing with adjustable buckles. the kind that snap together like a seat belt.

i threaded the webbing through the door handles and around the zenith. one snap and it is secure. it has never fallen off the counter yet, even after some pretty serious braking. sure beats picking it up off the floor every time i want to walk through the trailer!

We wanted a large screen TV - 20" to satisfy our old eyes. The Toshiba fit the bill due to a "cut-away" rear tube enclosure that overhangs the dinette. I take it off of the living room credenza and place it with the face against the sofa. Two nylon straps wrap around the TV and the front upper round bar of the sofa in transit. The DVD player velcros to the top of the TV - although I normally remove it for travel.

Not the TV but other stuff stored in shower pan

We store items in our shower pan while in transit. It has raised sides and I place towels around the items so they don't move around much. Flat stuff I store under the twin mattresses in the bedroom area (i.e. small folding table and books). Just need to remember to remove the items when I go to bed as it makes for a lumpy restless night if I forget.

securing the tv

I started a thread on this same topic some time ago.
Suction cups and bungee cords worked for me. No screws or adhesive.
I had a little 18' Caravel at that time.

We purchased a 17" flat panel TV at Best Buy -- they are getting fairly inexpensive. It gets stored in the bottom of the closet until we want to watch. Its very light and only requires plug into the power and plug into the antenna. Works great and is out of the way when we aren't watching.
