Reworking floorplan?

The trailer we are hoping to purchase has the original floorplan, but we found that an alternate floorplan was available at the time.

The AS has the dinette to the right of the door (makes a bed) and to the left of the door and straight across the kitchen. Further back (in what I call the bedroom) is a sofa that makes into a bed and across from that an entertainment center & large closet. In the rear is the bath.

We have seen this same trailer with two twin beds in place of the sofa and entertainment center/closet. How difficult would it be to take out the sofa and EC and replace them with twin beds on either side of the isle? This would give us two disignated beds plus the large dinette bed, thus giving us more space for the 4 of us.

Anyone ever done this or something similar?

You may want to consider adding some kind of bunk. They were actually offered on some models as an option, but appearantly, it is hard to find the bunks still intact. You can do a search on bunk beds for more ideas. Here are a few links that I found after a quick search:

Some folks have the twin beds and aspire to have the setup that you have.
I would look into a trade with someone who has twins.

The swapout is very easy. The only difficult thing that I have found about retrofitting Airstreams is those darned Tambour doors. It is a trick to get the tambour back into the scroll ends.
Lots of patience required.

All you need for retrofit is philips screwdriver, drill with small drill bit, and rivet tool.

Bunks are great for kids.
