replacing twin beds

Get a memory foam mattress, not hugely expensive, and very comfortable. IIRC, they are about 35" wide.

My '74 Argosy needed new twin mattresses. With measurements in hand I found some light very comfortable mattresses at Camping World. The available space was about the same width as a twin but a few inches longer -- a lot like the long twins common in college dorms. JC Penneys is college central for XL twin sheets.

When we decided to supplement our twins we went with good quality Sevylor air mattresses. They are pretty close to the same size as the twins. Inflate to your desired level. They perform like a generic sleep number bed.

Hey, that is not a bad idea at all. We've used a number of the high quality air mattresses with either the electric 110 or one had the D cells. My wife used one for the house because of a back injury and it worked quite well (not great if you have a large dog though Benifit...low weight...

I had some mattresses custom made for my twin beds when I first got my 1973 trailer.

The same day I picked up the mattresses I headed to a friends where we'd previously planned to do some work. We then decided to tear out one bed so half the money I'd just spent was wasted (oh well!). I put a desk on that side.

We also decided to build a new couch up front (when I got my Airstream there was nothing up there). We went to Joanne Fabric, bought three inch foam, doubled it to six inches and cut it for the space.

I later had some Mennonites in Ohio put upholstery over it (just picked up the upholstered version a few days ago). This whole process probably ended up adding up to $230, maybe a bit more--but it's very nice and comfortable.

I find the Joanne Fabric foam, which itself was cheaper than one of my mattresses, to be more comfortable than the mattress. (If you go to Joanne's be sure to print off a coupon first. They generally give 50% off on these things, but only with a coupon which is usually available from their web site.)

Nothing wrong with the mattress. just like the foam bed/couch better.

For a bed you wouldn't need upholstery, but you'd probably want some cover over the foam.

I gave my other brand-new custom cut mattress to Oasis RV (they wouldn't pay anything for it--then they charged me a small fortune for some work they did, but they are good).
