Replaced gaucho with dinette
88 Excella 31'. Tons of fun, but need more lounging room. After poking around here for ideas, happened across pizzachop's build, and started buying wood.
Flooring is Trafficmaster Allure, Dark Walnut. Measured out where we wanted it and got to work. Couple of slots so it fits together, then measured for the back slats to drill in the rear support and hinges.
Cut in some supports for the corners, then cubbies for the front.

So it needed a table. I ordered a telescoping pedestal support, but it needed to go under by six inches. I ended up cutting as far in to the floor and subfloor as I could, and cutting off the bottom of the inside pipe. It gives us JUST enough room to get in/out and enjoy a massive table/bed.
Maxwell approved.

Now what to do about cushions?
The dinette is 63"x90", so I ended up ordering a Cal King Foam RV/Truck bed off Amazon, and hacked it up with a kitchen knife. Quick upholstery job with some fabric from the local upholstery outlet ($27), and we're in business.
Again. Maxwell approved.
Massive bed option

Really, all that's left is make it look good, and possibly swap the table out for something smaller for day to day living. I plan on using a dark walnut veneer on the faces or the cubbies and around the baseboard and staining in to match the floor. I'm also looking for aluminum trim for the edge of the table, and end caps of the dinette.

I did a lot of the same overthinking. This layout is super easy. Probably a little heavy. You could probably get away with using 12"X1" poplar and cut some weight for the base.
I'll end up redoing it at some point. Never can leave well enough alone.

Seating build plans
Hi, your seating looks great! Do you have any measurements, specifically the height & width of the seating? Also, what was it built from (plywood, etc)?

Does the pedestal eliminate any bounce in the table?

The beautification engineer says the gaucho days in our trailer are now limited - she really liked it, great job!

I'm out of the country for the time being, but I remember the seats being about 27" deep and 14.something" tall. The whole shebang was around 63" deep, and about 92" wide.

Does anyone have plans for making something like this? We probably only have room for a queen size, but need plans. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this project. Beautiful work!
We have a 92, 29' Excella Classic. Our front interior includes battery boxes like you have, plus our Converter, and Solar related Inverter, etc. A PO turned the Gaucho sideways and built an enclosed bench across the front. All of this takes up a lot of room and has absolutely zero comfort value. We've looked at several front end options, including a dinette setup. We're really struggling with deciding what would offer the most practicality and comfort. So, we're earnestly searching for a solution.

I posted our dinette upgrade story with drawings, starting at post 420 here. Kudos go to Zeppellium for the original concept. PDF of the plan is in post 463 -- closer in size to your queen.
Great job Chatski.

Here's the link to the main thread, rather than trying to get fancy and land you on the right post within the thread. Obviously, you'll have to go forward to get to posts 420 and 463.
If that doesn't work, try copy/paste of this: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f109...ion-88673.html
Hope it's helpful!
