Renovation to layout of 1973 31' Sovereign

Hey Everyone,

I just had my 1973 Sovereign arrive yesterday. Since I am going to be the primary person using it....I want to completely renovate it.

First major question is....can I change the bathroom orientation? Currently it is rear bath model....BUT I want to have the master bedroom in the rear...I do not need a tub..can get away without one..so I am going to layout the bathroom just outside the master....

Second question is in repairing sub floor and under side of frame work...has anyone had the framework frame powdercoated? Or sprayed with bedliner material?

This will be the first reno to an airstream I have done...so help would be appreciated!!!

Yes the bath location can be changed but it will take a substantial amount of planning and effort, and is not for the faint of heart. Here are some threads on bath relocation and such that may offer some insight.

There are also numerous threads on powdercoating all sorts of things on Airstreams that should make for good reading for you. Here is a link to a search:

I seem to recall some members using undercoating and you should get some experience replies on the subject.

Congratulations on your upcoming adventure. Join us for a nearby rally or two before you tear into things if your schedule permits.

Regards,
