remodel 1975 Sovereign bathroom
We are stuck on what to do with our bathroom. The plumbing is all good but not sure if we should epoxy paint the tub and counters or pull everything out and install new tub/shower and cabinets. If anyone has remodeled their bathroom by painting what exact name of materials did you use? Also what type of paint to use on the vinyl surrounding the windows. If you pulled out counters what did you replace with? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

in terms of painting the tub and sink, if they are ABS plastic, Krylon fusion spray paint for plastic has been recommended on this forum with a lot of positive reviews. This is what I used and am very happy with it. Difficult to find in stores, but can be ordered online. If you do a google search for krylon fusion airforums, you should find a bunch of stuff.

I use a tub/tile two part epoxy paint that I got from Sherwin Williams to paint my tub and lavatory. The tub in a 68 is fiberglass and the sink is plastic. I sprayed it. After 7 years no issues and it looks great. Fusion was not out when I did my trailer but it would be fine on the surround and trim but on the high wear areas I would think an epoxy would hold up better. Surface prep is the key. Looking at the pics, your bath looks like it is in good shape. A complete remodel would be very time consuming and expensive. If I were you I would keep it and enjoy the retro look. I tried to keep mine as original as I could. That's me, you may want modern and new but I'm proud to show my 49 year old trailer to folks at campgrounds. Most are amazed when I explain that everything is original.

Thanks for information. I had gone to Sherwin Williams and the spray can they have is Tile-Doc which they said works really well other than by stepping in the tub one could dent it. I was wondering what the exact name of the product you used and what type of prep did you have to do?
Thanks

Bathroom Wall
Another question I have would be, can you use the same paint to spray the wall behind the tub?

1975 Sovereign bathroom remodel
I used POR 15 two part epoxy on the tub and sink of my 1968 Safari. Worked great, still great after 5 years. Go to their website to see all colors and other supplies. I recommend their "marine clean" for surface prep as it must be scrupulously clean. I'll send a pic if I can figure out how to do it.

We used Krylon Fusion for the bathroom in our 1971 Sovereign. If you follow the instructions to the letter it is very durable. We have been full-timing in our Airstream for 8 months and the paint still looks like the day we applied it. You can find it at any Ace hardware.

Hi,
I hate to be a nuisance but what exactly was the name of product at Sherwin Williams? They have an XLM Tile-Doc Aerosol 12oz, but it says it is 1 component epoxy. You mentioned 2 parts epoxy and I'm confused between the 1 and 2 parts?
Thanks,
Stephanie

I've been keeping pictures of what I call a "light remodel" in a folder. I believe I found them on a trailer for sale on ebay. I intend to do something very similar. That is, leaving the entire bathroom intact and adding a wood top to the vanity and cabinet.

Bathroom: spray or roll epoxy?
Thank you Laura,
Great pictures of bathroom. It looks like this trailer was framed with slotted wood. I wonder what they used on the shower wall behind tub and again the product on tub. I'm debating between Tile-doc by Rustoleum or Tub/tile by Rustoleum. Still not sure of difference. Also is it better to use spray can or roll product?
Is there a website to ask owners what they used?
