Recliners ??
Group :
My wife & I are intending to move up from our present 97 Safari 25 to a Classic 31.
As we were talking about the options we'd like, the topic of "recliners" came up since we are very fond of relaxing in our Lazy Boy chairs here at home most evenings.
We were wondering if anyone has ever taken out the sofa & replaced it with 2 recliners & a fixed table in between them, & may be able to direct us to a link so we could see some pictures of this modification.
My thanks in advance to those who respond.
P.

Recliners
I have taken the sofa out of a 34 ft. Excella, built a "box" around the batteries and am looking of the right size recliners. would appreciate any name brand suggestions.

hi larry and paul...
i see you are both relatively new here, so welcome aboard.
LOTS of good info and photos on this topic.
here is just one thread...
http://www.airforums.com/forum...-a-21267.html?
search 'recliners' or lazyboy or some common chair terms.
someone here has 2 big lzboys up front with a table/light between/.
there is an image here somewhere.
i've got an a/s supplied glider/rocker/recliner that is very nice, along with the sofa bed...
here is a pic...
i realize it isn't exactly how you want to proceed but the lzboys have been done too....
cheers

Avant-Glide...
Back when Airstream installed faux fireplaces in 34's (around 2000 model year..) they also included slim recliner/rockers made by Avant-Glide in Canada. They are stable, and swivel on a wood base, and have a patented gliding/rocking motion as well as a reclining back. They include an Ottoman with the same rocking/gliding motion...
I never bought the Airstream 34, but did just buy an Avant Glide chair, and love it... Here is link to dealer who sells via internet...
Gliders, Gliding Ottomans, Replacement Cushions for Gliders

Ekornes
From Scandanavia....perhaps Denmark or Norway. After a thorough re-model of the '98 Monaco 40' Dynasty MoHo that I full-timed in for 5 years, we needed a recliner to fill the space opposite the sleeper couch. We chose one from Ekornes. 3 different sizes and a bunch of styles......all super comfy and not as large as most.
Expensive....YES! BUT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ekornes (Denmark) is "Stressless" brand
The Stressless brand recliners swivel and recline, but don't rock... They are also lighter than most, using a steel tube frame on steel ring pedestal mount. Find a large dealer, with samples, as they are ordered from warehouse and each basic model comes in 3 widths (kind of like 3 Bears...) and wide choice of fabrics and leathers. If you like Stressless design, be sure and order one that fits exactly...

WHOOO there! Before you go running off to buy those LazyBoys, remember, there is only one way into an AS and that is the door! Yes, many of us love making mods to our AS's and it's fun, but work through the whole project before you start ripping things out. Also be very carefull of your weight changes. Not only do you want to add extra weight, but you want to keep the balance of weight on your axels the same or as close to the same as posible. Have fun, relax and let us know what you ended up doing!
