I have to share this! We found a product that covers so well it is almost unbelievable! The bathroom plastic has taken some UV damage over the years, Chalking and discoloring. I had to remove everything to get at a problem on the floor. This made it a great time to go after refinishing. We searched the internet and found POR 15 products.

Thanks, getting behind the sink area seems much harder than it really is. I'd be glad to share anything you need to know. We'll have to get together soon!

I just checked on the curing of the paint. Take quite a while, 48 to 96 hours. I have my shop @ 65º. The stuff is setting up like porcelain!

I think rustoleum makes a similar product called tub and tile -

Did you use this on your porcelain sinks or just fiberglass? I need to find something for the porcelain sinks of my 58....

This product is UV and moisture resistant, It is made to resurface bathroom fixtures, I used it on the plastic in my '75. I've heard of it used on a porcelain tub and worked great. (Moisture makes it cure faster so be aware!)

I wanted to post an update. It has been a little over 72 hours since we applied the paint. It has been curing slowly just as described in the data sheet. I left it in the work shop for 36 hours @ 35% humidity. As it happens the gas furnace out there reduces the humidity. it was a huge benefit for this. After 1/2 through the cure I took the 3 painted pieces inside where the humidity is around 50% this helped the curing. It is now extremely hard but the pieces are very pliable. 24 more hours and it reach the optimum cure. So far I am delighted with the way the pieces came out!

I used a two part epoxy and sprayed it...... took over a week to fully cure. But you know how cold it's been up here. First day you could pick it with your finger nail, tonight (1 week) was walking on the shower pan with muddy/snow/wet boot's - looks like new. Major difference......

They claim it it comes out the same or better brushed. I prefer spray. It goes on in an even 2" path, holding the gun 6" - 8" abobe the piece. You need a pretty large dia. tip to spray. You MUST put 2 coats. If you want it to level rigtht.

Wow! that really looks fabulous!

one thing that concerns me, though, is how it will match the rest of the bathroom. the vanity, and the bulkhead walls appear to be more of an "off-white" or ivory color. I don't think that's discoloration from the years gone by. Certainly, the ABS plastic fixtures are yellowed. but the closet door and bulkheads appear to be an off-white formica type laminate. wonder if POR15 will come out with an "OFFWHITECOAT™"

can't wait to see the finished product!

We did ask the dealer if pigments could be added, no plans at this time. it would take away from the bonding. ALL 5 of the removable plastic pieces have been removed. I will be working on puting the cover on the black tank soon. I need to make shim adjustments to the height. I did not like the factory wobble while , errr, ummmm, sitting there, you know what I mean....

I may be painting the removed closet wall before installing, I'll bring it in tonight and look at the color. Anything would be better than that dappled pinkish color!

As promised, I got a pic of the contrast of the bright white and off white. Not sure you can get a good view of the 2 pieces together? The original paint is not in bad shape, however I might as well paint the areas I can while everything is removed.

Another update:
OK, I’m starting to sound like a commercial for POR products. I just Sprayed the closet wall, off white with a product called Marine Clean. Before I used this I kinda liked a product called ZEP and I had cleaned the wall with that. However the paint looked faded. The cloth I used was yellow when I finished. And the area was maybe 12 square feet. The good news is I will not have to re-paint the off white walls!

I've had mine redone for about 6months now and still looks like new. I just got back from using my A/S in the Key's and the stuff is strong. It held up to two teenage girls walking on it and using the bathroom non-stop. Very happy with the stuff I used.
I'm not sure if I used the same stuff that BALRGN used, mine is just the two part epoxy you can get at HomeDepot. Easy, no primer, 1 coat. Most important part is making sure pieces are very clean.
