HELP! I got the "Silver Queen" home yesterday and started tear out of PO mods. I need a close up picture of the front edge of the factory couch. Without the cushions on it. I need to know what size and how the front board is attached. PO had a 2x6 with legs on it as well as 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood that had been a queen sized bed Got it removed... bet the tongue weight went down at least 100#
The front edge of the couch is a 1/2 inch thick 3 inch board. Padded and upholstered. It is attached to the couch bottom using a single full length peice of aluminum angle. This angle is screwed into the back of the tim peice and then screwed from the top to hold it to the bed bottom. The aluminum angle is undermounted.

That's what I was looking for, all I have right now is the sliding rails and a chewed up piece of ply wood. Plan on "restoring" it to something a little closer to orginal.
I sincerely advise you not to try & reproduce the lousy design of that uncomfortable couch.
I read somewhere about a wrap around couch made of a C shaped plywood base covered wit a C shaped foam cushion.
This would be much better for lounging, or entertaining guests.

Eventually we will get into a full custom interior. Right now I just need something serviceable. Plus I will need the extra bed on occasion. Right now the game plan (subject to revision, penalties and timeouts ) is to get the AS cleaned up, and fully functional so I can full time in it after the first of the year if the need arises. If that need goes away we will have a nice AS to use for years to come, then I can worry about the nicer interior.

The one in the link is an Amassador (I think) A little fancier trim level than the one we have. Either that on someone had already upgraded the sofa. Silver Queen was my wife's idea, I much prefered Queen of the Silver Dollar 'cause I have a feeling that is what I am going to be spending on it. FWIW at the moment it is parked in what used to be the garden where we grew Silver Queen Corn
