It might be an idea to get a pest control expert in to smell the smell.

If you have an ant infection it could be formic acid

Have you seen any ants?

We have washed all the curtains and the PO reupholstered the dinette and couch with leather (not the smell), and we have wood floors. The smell is most likely the ceiling or maybe it is the glue behind the lovely "mouse fur" walls!

I guess this is just one of those things we will have to learn to live with.....seems like a bunch of us are experiencing the same smell. As long as it doesn't hurt us, I can learn to live with it!

when plywood decomposes it has that smell. Work on a few and you recognize it right away.

Yes, I have the same issue, a strong musty order that diminishes after the windows are open for a while. I recently read that several R.V. Manufacturers have agreed to pay $14 million to settle a suit by the government for the FEMA trailers they built that were provided to the Katrina victims. The residents were coming down with all kinds of symptoms, such as nasal and breathing problems. One of the builders was Thor Industries, the makers of Airstreams. It's a recent news article, look on Google for the latest on this issue.

You might try a Peak 03 air purifier...leave it running on high for a day (or even more than this).

If it's not a musty smell from mold, then it's likely from the outgassing of plastic components used in the construction of your AS and is more noticeable when the hot sun is beating down on your trailer. As far as I can tell it's probably coming from the coating on the interior panels which get warm in the hot sun.

I also had a mystery smell in my trailer when I got her. I finally got around to doing some deep cleaning in all the little hidden away spots a couple of weeks ago. Vacuumed up a ton of animal residue, old insulation and sundry unidentifiable objects, gave it all a good wiping down with diluted bleach and lemon juice (old boat trick), no more smell.

Do you know what a learning experience is? A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."
