Yes, or for say, building a new interior endcap as a mini-tribute to Wally's gold trailer.

I'm using a local LA supplier though. Cheaper without shipping of course.

Hey speaking of gold metal, I remember reading a thread about some solid rivets that get delivered with a gold color, and the gold only came off during polishing. Does anyone here know which ones those are?

These at Airparts look gold-ish:

If you get rivets through an avaition dealer, then almost all are gold for corrosion protection. The coating will buff right off

Perfect. But if I don't buff them or polish the surface, will they stay mostly gold?

My 55 Safari has gold buck rivets on the exterior. I haven't polished it yet and assumed the gold rivet color was due to age. I figured they would become silver after polishing.

Thank's Aerowood. This is all perfect.

I was just concerned about the clashing of colors with silver on gold, next to silver. Would have looked a little strange. Two shades of gold is OK.

Great information here. Love this forum, as always.

Thor should do a complete full Monty on it and have it placed into the Smithsonian American History Museum for the world to see. It is an American Icon.

Absolutely. Along with it, they should donate a current one. So many people that we run into don't realize that Airstreams are still being made - it would be great P.R.
