More leg room
We're doing volunteer work at Everglades NP this winter and my wife asked if there was a way to gain more leg room at the couch in our 31' Classic w/dinette since we will be in the trailer for 4 months. There are only the two of us so we removed the forward seat to the dinette and I built the pictured shelf unit. The second photo show the interior of the unit which has 3 sliding shelves that holds a little more then the under the seat drawer we lost. The shelf is ligther then the seat was, so we didn't add any weight and we gained a lot of leg room on her side. She also has a place to display her Airstream knick knacks. The small cut out opening on the upper shelf will hold the directtv recr. The only surprise was when we removed the carpet, the linoleum did not go as far as the couch. It was shy almost 12" so for now we put a rug runner in f/o the couch until we do phase 2 at a later date; replace the couch with 2 recliners, build something to hide the electrical components and replace the flooring. This is our first alteration of our AS, felt good.

Very nice looking. Now the wife can stretch her legs and be a happy camper.

going a little sideways here...but does anyone agree that these original foam couches --after awhile, tend to de-sensitize your rear end...lol!

That's really neat. We like your "redesign".

nice job!
the 31/dinette is tight on the far sofa end so what you've done is very practical too!
looks like it can be undone as well.
cheers

Nicely done! When you are ready for the recliners consider "The Perfect Chair"
The Perfect Zerogravity Chair
I have tried these, very comfortable, not enough room in the Minuet.

Hassock
Hi, Gregg,
What I need is a couple of the hassocks shown in your picture. Can you say where you got yours?
Thanks,
Jim

We found them at Target, they are quite sturdy and make a good extra seat in a pinch.
