Modification--no sofa, put in Ekornes, 25'

Brenda and I do not like the divan/sofa in our 2002 25' Classic! Have any of you gotten rid of the divan and put in something similar or the same?

I don't know what to do about the battery boxes and univolt under the present divan set-up but instead of paying for new upholstery we are exploring

The present divan is upholstered in something cheap....it is beige and fits the total decor but it is awful--uncomfortable and we do not need sleeping extras.

Any ideas?

Check with Bob Thompson for particulars. He put in 2 of the Ekornes, removed part of each of the battery boxes in front and mounted the two batteries in the center under a Corian top and what looks like a wood cabinet. The Ekornes chairs are placed on either side of the battery cabinet. It is really a cool setup. Hope he doesn't mind me posting a couple pictures I took while visiting him.

Hi Craig, I'm pleased that you like our Ekornes chair arrangement. It makes a delightfully comfortable place to relax. To help explain your photo's here is a photo showing the battery box and wiring housings. http://www.airforums.com/photo...00&userid=3264

An Ekornes chair fits on either side of the center battery box. To help clarify, we keep the Ekornes chairs in our home when we are not traveling. This keeps them in good condition. Anyone considering doing what I have done might also consider some of the very comfortable small recliners by Barcolounger. The St. Claire and the Abbey chairs are close wall proximity recliner/rockers which are small in size, but quite comfortable and they have a cleaver pop-up head rest when put in the reclining position. Of course, it is hard to beat the quality of the Ekornes chairs.

Fortunately for me the Battery Box is in the rear Curb side. The Intelicharge is in the rear Bath closet. I have a cover over the terminals for the brakes and light wiring. There would be room for the Battery boxes an most likely the Univolt too, however I'd upgrade that if it were me..

I just pulled moved the batteries to the A frame. Unscrewed the outside front panels, pulled the boxes out, put the panels back and sealed them. I am getting a new intelli power and will mount that beside the wiring panel. The old battery boxes was in the way of the new sofa bed and chair I wanted to put there. I'll send pix when it completed.
