Lounge Chairs

We were in the process of buying a used 30' FC with twin lounge chairs up front. For a number of reasons (all ours) the deal did not finalize.

We are now considering looking at 25' and possibly 27' used units, but I cannot sit for long at the dinette configurations in these units. I was wondering if anyone has pulled the dinette, put in two lounge chairs and made the remaining couch on the curb side into an eating area.

Thanks

Have a look here. We have been full timing in this configuration for three years and would never go back. We left the couch the way that it was and just use trays

Paiceman,
Ours is much older (1984) that what you are looking for but we did a similar thing. It is 27 ft and has a fold out dinette table mounted on the wall opposite the door. The only picture I have of it was during the floor work though, but if you look thru our door you will see it folded up against the far (streetside) wall. We had taken out the old couch and when we finished the floor work we put in a couple lounge chairs. So we still have a table and the cabinet right next to the door was modified so it will fold up into a table for us as well. So not quite the same as your newer ones but same principle I think. Chairs are much more comfy than the couch was...

Very nice looking.
What chairs did you choose, and how do you keep them from bouncing around while driving?

Both units look great and are exactly what we are thinking. Did either of you do the work yourself or have it done?

If you did the work yourself what did you do with the duc work and how are the chairs mounted?

Thanks

Well thanks,
Can't speak for Deauxrite, but my wife and I did ours. No ducting for us to worry about up front (again, an older Airstream). Our furnace is under the stove and has one vent up front (also under the stove) See pic looking aft. You can see the round heat duct outlet just below the space heater (covered) on the wall of the stove. (Little propane space heater was an option on the 84)
We pulled out the old sofa (which was not the original, but was installed by the PO) pulled out the carpet, made a few minor repairs to the subfloor, painted it, and then put in the wood floor. We did a lot more at the same time but we are done inside for a while...
We actually did not mount our chairs to the floor. They have rubber grips on the bottom and when we tow, we slide them back into the corners and they stay just fine.

Lounge Chairs Redux

We also did our own work. We purchased "Stressless" brand recliners with bases. I attached the bases to the floor with two screws. I have removed them a couple of times and that seems to work great.

The only ducting We did was removal of the duct around and under the old dinette arrangement. I also blocked the heater outlet for that side at the furnace. The rig still stays warm and I have had no issues with the furnace. I faced the end of the couch with some plywood and painted it white and added a magazine rack..it actually looks better than original.

Good luck.

Pictures will take some time as we don't pick up the AS until sometime in November. My fall work schedule just does not give me the time to go pick her up, 16 hours round trip.

Our chairs on order finally came in, the paperwork is done on the 25' AS and we pick it up on November 11. Then we will start the conversion of the front dinette to the two lounge chairs. We plan on taking before, during and after pictures and will publish once we are done.
