Keep or not? Interior end cap.

I plan on stripping the vinyl in my 75 Tradewind. At least all the vinyl back to the bedroom area. (I may paint the bedroom retro/zolatone.) I remember seeing somewhere where I could buy precut aluminum interior end caps. Was that a dream? I've also seen the great panels some have crafted. ( were they late models or only up to 68? )

Is there anyone who will argue the pros of keeping the original end cap? They seem to waste so much space.
