Interior walls, questions

I want to place wood panelling in my 1974 overlander. When I look at websites like the Orvis airstream or Craig Dorsey airstream I would like to know what is the thickness of the panels that they use and are they placed over the existing skin? Are they then riveted to the ribs?is there a concern where the seams are? I welcome and thank you for any and all advise.
