Interior Panel order
Hello all,
I recently bought a 21' 69 Globetrotter that was completely gutted when I got it. It came with all of the interior panels in a pile and numbered. I know where they are all suppose to go but do not know the order from where to start. Couple of question:
- I presume from the bottom up but do you start in the middle, front or back?
- I'm planning on cleaning with TPS, sand with 150 and prime with kilzs. Should I use latex or oil based
- Is it easier to prime and paint then re-rivet or rivet and then prime paint
- Do most people just paint over the rivets?
- Any other tips or ideas would be great.
Sorry for so many questions but based on reading the forum, I suspect people have some great know how.

I just reskinned my Overlander. The original panels made it easy to see the layout, the overlaps didn't have paint so it's possible to spread them out on the ground and decypher the sequence.
I used all new aluminum and in general my sequence was front and rear end caps, sections between the windows, roof, then floor.

In our '72, the front and rear overhead end caps went on first, then the wall panels below them, followed by the other wall panels, working from the rear forward, bottom to top.

On our trailer, it was easy to tell which order they went in...the Zolatone (paint) gives it away. You can "start somewhere" using clecos to temporarily hold panels in place, then go to the next panel and see if it is over or under (the silver parts go "under") the last one attaching each panel with clecos as you go. Then once you have them all located, start rivetting things back together.
If you don't know what clecos are... check this out - they will become your best friend in skin/panel repair/replacement.

The lower panels always are the first to be installed.

On my '91 and my '63, the lower panels were on top of the adjacent ones, indicating they were installed later in the sequence.
