Interior light/leaks

All knowing lords of wisdom, the center light on our 25ft. Landyacht caravanner has no power. Where does the power wire come from and hook to? Also in Texas right now we are having our annual monsoon and have discovered some leaks in various places. How do we seal around the windows? The previous owner must have owned stock in the silcone company,I think everything is coated twice.

If you are sure the bulb is good, then if you will unscrew the light fixture there should be 2 wires ... white and some color. If you will look in the fuse or breaker box (whichever you have), you should find the same color on one of the circuits. You either have that circuit open somewhere or that particular fuse or breaker is blown.

If both ends of the circuit are good (bulb, switch, fuse or breaker), then it gets a bit more difficult. Perhaps a splice came adrift somewhere in the walls.

Check your fuse holders. I have a occasional problem with mine, certain lights will just stop working and once I give the fuses a little jolt or twist they will work again. I had the same problem with my Argosy. It starts with a little corrosion ont the fuse holder prongs which causes them to heat up and distempers the metal. I am about ready to chuck my loud humming univolt anyways so I will be saying goodbye to the attached built-in fuse holders soon enough.

Silicone?? Good luck getting it all off!! Definitely a pain to get rid of. I know of no solvent that will dissolve it, only scraping and other mechanical means will work. There is plenty of info here on sealing the correct ways, just do a search in the proper forum.

The "MOST" common rain water leak is the gasket that is underneath the vent pipe covers.

It's amazing how many owners will put sealer of all kinds, all over the place, and never remove one of those covers to inspect that gasket.

Those particular gaskets last 4 to 5 years or so, depending on the climate.

When that gasket ages out, it cracks, allowing rain water to go around the black pipe, into the walls or closets, and then on to the floor.

No mystery, just something most owners over look and don't check.
