How to remove interior ceiling skin???

I can't figure out how to get this metal edging off, aside from trying to force it with hammer and spackle knife. That's not working so well...

Please help.

You have to bow the center skin down and then slide one edge out of the track. You don't have to remove the trim to remove center skin. You have to remove center skin then trim, the trim is riveted to the ribs under the center skin.

You should be able to either bow the center section down as described above, or slide the entire section out one end or the other. Do not get rough with the "edging," as it it unobtainium and cannot be purchased new.

good luck!

Just be warned when We took ours down, we were showered with 40yrs of mouse droppings! Would strongly suggest eye and respiratory protection.

I did get a little rough at the end but shouldn't be irreparable. Thanks for the tip!

Dido to what others said about removing upper middle panel. It is nice to have other hands helping when bowing the panel down to take off, don't need to crimp aluminum panel. Good luck. Hazmat suite should work well.

I used the strategy listed in this thread, bowing the middle down and pulling it out. However it will only come out on one side, the entire length of the ceiling. There's no rivets that I can see (or access) that would be holding the other side in. Any ideas ?

Try sliding a putty knife between the skin and the mouldingfor the entire length. If there is a hidden rivet, burr, or adhesive, you should find it this way.

good luck!

I sprayed WD-40 in from the top and bottom. After a while I was able to get it out but it still required a fair amount of force
